Larry Gilbert

Managing Partner, CEO and Chairman

Mr. Gilbert’s career has been advising and managing entrepreneurial and investment companies. He is regarded as an expert in transaction structuring, renewable energy investing and venture investments. Prior to founding Kairos, Mr. Gilbert was CEO of Sennet Capital, a private equity merchant bank providing debt and equity capital to Hawai`i projects and mid-market companies. Mr. Gilbert has also served in a number of roles connected with venture capital investments.

Mr. Gilbert’s previous experience includes serving as Vice President and General Manager of Authentication Solutions for ChoicePoint, Inc., a NYSE-listed data company in Atlanta, Georgia (since acquired by LexisNexis, a unit of Reed Elsevier). Mr. Gilbert joined ChoicePoint in connection with its acquisition of Identico Systems LLC, an early-stage company for which he served as was president and chief executive officer.

Mr. Gilbert received his Juris Doctor degree from UCLA in 1977 and a B.A. degree from Pitzer College in 1974. He served as President of the Hawai'i State Bar Association in 1992 and as a per diem Judge in the District Court for the First Circuit, State of Hawaii, 1991-1996.

He values community service and has served on the Board and Executive Committee of the Honolulu Economic Development Board (formerly Enterprise Honolulu) and on the Board of Boys and Girls Clubs of Hawaii. He has also served as a guest lecturer and virtual professional in residence for the Shidler College of Business at the University of Hawai`i.
